MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION PROCEDURE

In order to become a member of the Emporia Board of REALTORS®, please follow the instructions provided below.

General Overview:

The Emporia Board of REALTORS is a member of the Kansas Association of REALTORS and the National Association of REALTORS. 

 The purpose of the EBR is to unite those engaged in real estate, to promote high standards of conduct, and to further the interest of home ownership.

EBR MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION PROCEDURE

  1. Applicant (new member) becomes licensed and selects with which broker to associate.
  2. Applicant has 10 days from license date to submit written application and dues (see links below) to EBR Membership Committee Chairperson.
  3. A $25 late charge is due if not paid in 10 days.
  4. Membership Committee reviews application and forwards dues to Treasurer for deposit.
  5. Secretary of EBR publishes name to EBR Board of Directors for approval.  Voting for approval of application may take place either in person or via email.
  6. Board Dues owing are pro rated to date of licensure--See link to 2009 Dues on this website.
  7. Additional Dues:  New Broker Member/Business:  $150 application fee to EBR (one-time fee).
  8. Upon approval, Applicant is required to successfully complete the KAR REALTOR Orientation and Quiz, an open book test, regarding the Code of Ethics and local board and MLS By-Law.
  9. Applicant has 60 days to complete orientation and quiz.  It is the responsibility of Applicant to notify Membership Committee of successful completion of this requirement.
  10. KAR REALTOR Orientation and Quiz accessed on "New Member Test" tab on this website.  You will need to use your NRDS number for both user id and password. 
  11. Purchase Test:  All documents you need for the test are accessible from this page.  Follow link to "Members Center">"KAR REALTOR Orientation">(link in middle of page) "visit KAR IMS Store...">"Members Services" (top left) >"Personal Services">"KAR Store-REALTOR...>"New Member Orientation">"Orientation-Emporia BOR". 
  12. MLS Membership: Any EBR member wishing to have access to the Multiple Listing Service must follow the procedure listed on "Become MLS Member" tab on this website.
